SONY PLAYSTATION 5 IS HERE !

The all new Sony PlayStation 5. Yes no more computer rendered images, No more rumours, No more guess game .

We now have the PlayStation 5 hardware in all flesh and bone, and its looks absolutely stunning. Firstly Sony decides to step out of the black. Yes ! The PlayStation 5 is now available in bright white colour with electric blue accents.

From the reveal what we know is there are two variants of the console one being the “Digital Edition” which goes by its name and should have access only limited to the online store from where you can purchase the digital copies of the games and download straight away to the console. The next variant is the one which comes with an optical 4K UHD Blu-Ray disc drive and should have access to both hard and soft media. However both the variants are absolutely gorgeous with the Digital Edition being slightly more slimmer than the standard one since it lacks the disc drive.

The PlayStation 5 also have a whole new line up of other supported accessories which also come in white to go with its theme which are as follows :

  • DualSense Wireless Controller
  • DualSense Charging Station
  • HD camera
  • Pulse 3D Wireless Headset
  • Media Remote

Technical Specifications

  • CPU : AMD Zen 2 8 core 3.5GHz
  • GPU : AMD RDNA 2 with RAY TRACING
  • RAM : 16 GB DDR6 SDRAM @448 Gb/s
  • Storage : Base unit 825GB SSD

The Sony Playstation 5 is said to have an arsenal of equipment onboard that puts the competition a step backwards. To start with the processor the PS5 sports a AMD Octa-core zen 2 unit with variable frequency which is capped @ 3.5 GHz. Now this processor alone can do wonders when it comes to processing but Sony doesn’t stop at that. The processors gets an equally strong support from its GPU which is the Customized AMD RDNA2 which is a SoC with 36 compute units running at variable frequency which is capped @ 2.23 GHz with 10.28 TFLOPS capability.

Both the CPU and the GPU is controlled by the AMD smartshift technology which balances the usage of the CPU and GPU with controlling their variable frequencies to compliment the current usage without compromising on the performance or the cooling.

The GPU supports hardware acceleration and real-time RAY TRACING.

The system also sports 16 gigs of DDR6 SDRAM with bandwidth of 448 GB/s and the one that tops the chart is the 825GB SSD which is connected through a 12 channel interface to the main system. Now brilliant mating of the custom sized SSD through the interface is capable of pulling mind boggling speeds upto 5.5GB/s uncompressed and about 9GB/s Compressed. All of this configuration coming together gets the user an unmatched experience having said that now it can do not only 4K UHD but 8K UHD gaming.

The PS5 also houses a storage expansion slot which is again a super fast NVMe M.2 port and further expansion can be done on USB storage devices.

Talking about the IO points on the base unit we have the Optical 4KUHD Blu-Ray drive and also a USB TYPE A and TYPE C ports.

With all that jazz do you think PS5 can now bring the PC gamers to the consoles ? Also do you think PS5 will be a better performer in terms of graphics and processing compared to its competitors ? lets us know in the comments below.
